Establishing a new presence in Rome meant creating a space that could seamlessly embody John Paul Mitchell Systems’ (JPMS) values of sustainability, innovation, and holistic beauty.

The goal was to create more than just an office—a space that fosters collaboration and creativity while delivering an immersive Brand Experience. The project also includes an Academy Showroom, designed for training hair stylists and showcasing JPMS products.

A SPACE THAT REFLECTS THE JPMS PHILOSOPHY

JPMS is much more than just a haircare brand—it’s a name that has always embodied deep values such as respect for people and environmental responsibility. In the new spaces, this philosophy becomes a tangible experience: the design prioritises natural materials, soft tones, and warm colours, creating an inviting and harmonious atmosphere. Every detail has been carefully considered to engage the senses—touch, sight, and scent.

At the heart of the space is a full-height feature wall that wraps around the central core. More than just a storage solution, it serves as a brand gallery, opening at strategic points to showcase products and imagery. This design choice reinforces the identity of the space and offers an immersive experience into the world of JPMS.

THE HARMONY BETWEEN FUNCTIONALITY AND BRAND EXPERIENCE

The new layout seamlessly combines functional solutions with a welcoming atmosphere.

The offices, overlooking Piazzale Sturzo and Viale Beethoven, maximise natural light, offering expansive views and creating a bright, inspiring workspace.

In contrast, the Academy Showroom is positioned towards the more secluded internal courtyard, ensuring a quiet, focused environment—ideal for professional training and product presentations.

At the entrance, a warm and inviting reception area welcomes visitors into a cosy yet refined space. Just behind it, the open-plan workstations are arranged in an airy, fluid layout, designed to encourage collaboration and idea-sharing.

AN EFFICIENT DESIGN

One of the key design challenges was redefining the spatial layout to optimise the functionality of the two main operational areas: the offices and the Academy Showroom. The bathrooms, originally concentrated in a single block, were divided into two separate units, strategically positioned within the central core. Additionally, separate access points were created to ensure efficient service for both areas.

Altis has designed a space that not only meets JPMS’s operational needs but also inspires creativity, fosters connections, and delivers an authentic Brand Experience.
