International Investment Company – Precision under pressure
Milan
With the relocation of its headquarters to BIM Milano, Subaru Italia embarked on a workplace transformation journey focused on company culture, wellbeing and everyday collaboration.

Mobility, and by extension the workplace, is built around experience: engaging, reliable and reassuring. The new Subaru headquarters stems from the ambition to give tangible form to the brand’s core values (Enjoyment, Peace of Mind and Trust) translating them into spaces, relationships and ways of working that support people and strengthen a sense of belonging.

The move to BIM Milano represented a strategic step for the client. The challenge was to translate intangible values into an operational environment capable of supporting different needs, from individual focus to informal collaboration, while providing comfort, orientation and a high-quality workplace experience. The space needed to express the company culture clearly, avoiding purely decorative solutions and instead creating a recognisable environment capable of supporting the evolution of contemporary work.

Altis developed the project according to the principles of Emotion Based Working, Altis’ workplace framework that places people's cognitive, emotional and behavioural experience at the centre of the design process. Within this approach, the workplace is conceived as an ecosystem of different environments, designed to respond to the various work modes that people move through during the day. Open-plan workspaces, meeting rooms, brainstorming areas, meeting booths, phone booths and social spaces coexist within an integrated system that encourages collaboration, inclusivity and the exchange of ideas.

Warm materials, timber finishes, textile flooring and a strong presence of greenery create a balanced and welcoming environment, combining structured work areas with spaces dedicated to wellbeing and informal breaks. The layout is organised as a journey that guides employees and visitors through the Subaru experience, clearly distinguishing between public and private areas. A continuous linear lighting feature runs throughout the workplace, guiding movement, visually connecting different functions and reinforcing orientation, helping create a workplace that is intuitive, legible and aligned with the values that shaped it.
